Some Edmontonians say that the high cost of accessing services in Edmonton negatively impacts their quality of life.
Should consideration be given to providing supports for low income residents, such as a needs-based sliding scale rate for transit passes, access to recreation facilities, etc?
What types of supports for low income Edmontonians do you feel would be appropriate?
What type would you not support?

Instead of subsidizing services the City should also consider real strategies with regard to affordable housing. If the potential funding put towards subsidies were put into housing strategies it would mitigate alot of the need for the funding.

An emerging issue in our neighbourhood is the arrival of a few homeless people living in the ravine. It is uncivilized to think of people out in the cold in a province that is so well off. Yet, our community is befuddled about what to do -- do we open church basements, offer food, all of the above? These are the folk that need the most support, yet the people of our area really don't know how to address this. Who knows where to go for more information?

There is an error in the Affordability survey - the scale does not make sense ("somewhat agree" is an option twice). Aside from that, it was difficult to complete this survey because of course, in theory, I strongly support all of those supports for vulnerable Edmontonians. However, the reality is, not all these ideas can be funded and it would make more sense to rank them most important to least important. Finally, many of these things are at least partially under the purview of the province, and will need provincial support to move forward.
